4/21/2010 15 students from Galileo High School's Academy of Hospitality and Tourism just completed a six week job shadowing program, where they reported to hotels and events centers for an hour and a half each week for six weeks. These students were part of CTE's pilot of a new program called the Extended Job Shadowing Program. Shadow hosts were the Chancellor Hotel, Intercontinental Mark Hopkins, Sheraton Fisherman's Wharf, Holiday Inn Golden Gateway, Hilton-Union Square, Hotel Nikko, Hyatt at Fisherman's Wharf, Grand Hyatt, Handlery Union Square, The Moscone Centerand 1 Fort Mason.
3/26/2010 Nearly 100 students from Burton and Washington's Academy of Engineering attended the first annual "Sustainable Construction Day" developed and planned by business partners at McCarthy, Swinerton and Flack and Kurtz, all members of our Academy of Engineering Advisory Board. The planning committee not only devoted countless hours to planning but also recruited over 15 experts from 11 different companies to present and interact with students.
