Mentors (professionals from the industry) guide students teams on projects that involve virtually every phase of the construction process
Teams present their projects at a special awards event. where scholarships ($500-$3,000) are awarded
More than $72,000 has been awarded since 2002.
ACE is open to all students but is best suited for 9th and 10th grade students.
Meetings are typically twice a week between 4:00pm and 6:00pm at the mentor’s office.

Hands-on Trades After-School Program ( 5 credits/semester
An exciting new program for all high school students that takes place after the general school day
Developed in partnership with construction professionals, this series of courses allows students to learn the workings and skills necessary to work in the construction trades
Initially focused on the fields of stationary engineers, and carpentry, students gain real world skills by learning basic construction skills and experience with hand tools, machine tools, various types of construction materials, construction and organizational operations, sub-flooring, framing, roofing, blueprint reading and surveying.
By combining hands-on coursework with academic rigor students are given relevance to their learning. Open to all students, BMTA is targeted to 10th through 12th graders

BuildSF 15 credits/semester
BuildSF was created and is co-located with the Architectural Foundation of San Francisco in downtown San Francisco
Students report to class in the afternoons to learn real-life applications in architecture, construction and engineering. The rigorous curriculum incorporates the use of computer programs used by industry professionals
Twice a week students report to their mentor's office.
